BOB MITCHELL WAS THE MANAGER OF THE I.B.M. INDUSTRIAL SOFTBALL TEAM DURING THE 1960’S. DURING THAT TIME, HIS TEAMS HAD A RECORD OF 730 WINS - 136 LOSSES.

BOB COACHED SOME OF THE BEST TEAMS TO EVER PLAY IN THE LEXINGTON AREA AND SEVERAL OF HIS PLAYERS WENT ON TO PLAY WITH OTHER CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER TEAMS. HIS TEAMS WON EIGHT STATE TOURNAMENTS. FINISHED THIRD AND FOURTH IN THE NATIONAL TOURNAMENT AND WERE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS IN 1966.

THE 730 WINS CAME AGAINST STRONG COMPETITION AS THE TEAM PLAYED IN THE LEXINGTON OPEN LEAGUE AND A TRAVEL LEAGUE WITH TEAMS FROM LOUISVILLE, OHIO, AND INDIANA. BOB MITCHELL WAS VERY INSTRUMENTAL IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF KY ASA SOFTBALL IN LEXINGTON AND SERVED AS A DISTRICT COMMISSIONER. HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED BY FRIENDS AND TEAMMATES.
