HE OFFICIATED BOTH FAST AND SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL AT ALL LEVELS OF THE GAME. HE CALLED HIGH SCHOOL. COLLEGE AND A.S.A. GAMES. HE GRADUATED FROM PAINT LICK HIGH SCHOOL, ATTENDED CUMBERLAND JUNIOR COLLEGE AND GRADUATED FROM EASTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY. HE WAS A TEACHER, COACH, AND PRINCIPAL WHO ALSO UMPIRED BASEBALL & SOFTBALL AND REFEREED BASKETBALL.

HE HAD A LONG AND DISTINGUISHED UMPIRING CAREER. HE UMPIRED A VAST NUMBER OF A.S.A. DISTRICT AND REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS DURING HIS CAREER INCLUDING ASSIGNMENTS FROM 1963 TO 1976.

HE OFFICIATED A LARGE NUMBER OF STATE LEVEL EVENTS INCLUDING:

-THE 1964 STATE SOFTBALL FAST PITCH TOURNAMENT

-THE 1964 K.H.S.A.A. STATE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

-THE 1965 A.S.A. STATE SLOW PITCH TOURNAMENT

-THE 1971 STATE A.S.A. SLOW PITCH TOURNAMENT

-THE 1972 BLUEGRASS FAST PITCH TOURNAMENT

-THE 1974 A.S.A. STATE SLOW PITCH TOURNAMENT

-THE 1974 A.S.A. STATE FAST PITCH TOURNAMENT

-THE 1976 A.S.A. STATE SLOW PITCH TOURNAMENT

HE WAS AN “UMPIRE’S UMPIRE” WHO LOVED HIS WORK AND THE GAME OF SOFTBALL.
