JULIUS HAD A REPUTATION OF BEING A CONSISTENT HITTER. HIS LIFETIME BATTING AVERAGE IS ESTIMATED TO BE .265. HE WAS KNOWN FOR HIS SPEED IN THE OUTFIELD AND RUNNING THE BASES- HE WAS VERY AGGRESSIVE IN A BALL GAME.

JULIUS PLAYED ON EIGHT KENTUCKY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS AND ONE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM. IN 1949, THE NATIONAL TOURNAMENT WAS PLAYED IN LITTLE ROCK. ARKANSAS, AND JULIUS MADE THE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM. HE PLAYED WITH COVINGTON NICK CAR'S IN 1938, 1939, 1940, AND 1941; IN 1941-1945 WITH THE UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINES; WITH THE SIXTH WARD BOOSTERS FROM 1946-1949; AND WITH THE NEWPORT RAMBLERS IN 1950.
