He began playing slow pitch in the summer of 1959 and continued to play until he retired after 1994, a career covering 36 seasons. During that time, he played for some of the very best slow pitch teams to come from the state of Kentucky. Among them were BB Stone Insurance, Scott County Merchants, Sportsworld, Fourth St. Tobacco Warehouse, Hacienda T&K, and T&K Bassett Products.

During his career, he played on teams that: -Won eight State Championships at the Open or Major level -One with BB Stone Insurance -Three with the Scott County Merchants -Three with T&K/Bassett Products -One with T&K/Bassett Products

He twice played on teams that won the Midwest Regional and participated in six World Tournaments.

Teams for which he played won some of the most prestigious tournaments in the country- the L.I.T., the Smoky Mountains Classic, the Maryville Spring Classic, the West Virginia Classic, the Thoroughbred Classic, the Stroh's Invitational, the Busch Invitational, the OVC Invitational, the Armco Invitational, the Lake Cumberland Classic, and the Las Vegas Classic.

He was named all-tournament, all-state, all-world, and the leading home run hitter of numerous events over the course of his career. His presence on a team was an almost sure guarantee of that team enjoying great success. His leadership and play mark him as one of Kentucky's all-time greats.
