BILL GOURLEY WAS KNOWN FOR HIS ATHLETIC ABILITY. BILL EXCELLED IN SOFTBALL, BASEBALL, BASKETBALL, AND GOLF. BILL’S SOFTBALL CAREER BEGAN AT AGE 14 AND HE PLAYED FOR FORTY (40) YEARS.

HIS CAREER HIGHLIGHTS ARE:

-LINCOLN COUNTY LEAGUE—WON SEVEN (7) STRAIGHT YEARS

-NORTHERN KENTUCKY—PITCHED FOR 12TH STREET MERCHANTS, KELLY CATS, 514 CLUB, HILLSIDE COUNTRY CLUB, LOU & JOE’S CAFÉ, AND SIX WARD BOOSTERS.

-IN OHIO, HE PITCHED FOR RAILTO CAFÉ, AND IN ONE GAME STRUCK OUT ALL BATTERS IN A SEVEN-INNING GAME. HE PLAYED FOR PIPEFITTERS AND PENRIDGE AC’S.

-IN 1947, BILL STRUCK OUT 38 BATTERS IN A 15 INNING GAME AND LOST 1-0. IN 1948, HE PLAYED WITH SIX WARD BOOSTERS AND IN THE STATE TOURNAMENT WON ALL 4 GAMES, ONE NO-HIT. TEAMS HE COMPETED AGAINST DID NOT SCORE A RUN.

-WON 2 GAMES IN THE NATIONAL REGIONAL 1949-50-51 PLAYED WITH DOW CHEMICAL AC’S. WON 4 GAMES IN STATE REGIONAL AND WORLD TOURNAMENT, LOST NONE.

-1952 TRENTON BOOSTER CLUB – WON 2 GAMES IN THE STATE, 2 IN NATIONAL REGIONAL, 2 IN WORLD TOURNAMENT.

-1953-54 PENRIDGE AC’S – WON 4 GAMES IN REGIONAL AND 3 GAMES IN THE WORLD TOURNAMENTS, LOST NONE.

-IN ONE YEAR WITH TRENTON, BILL WON 32 AND LOST 2 GAMES.
