THIS AWARD IS IN RECOGNITION OF OUTSTANDING ABILITY AS A SOFTBALL PLAYER. HE IS THE FIRST SLOW-PITCH PLAYER TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE NATIONAL SOFTBALL HALL OF FAME IN 1973.

REINHARDT WAS THE FIRST PLAYER TO PLAY IN BOTH ASA NATIONAL FAST PITCH AND SLOW PITCH TOURNAMENTS IN 1949 AND 1953. HE REPRESENTED KENTUCKY IN 11 OF THE FIRST 13 NATIONAL SLOW PITCH TOURNAMENTS AND HAD A COMPOSITE BATTING AVERAGE OF .581. HIS BEST YEAR WAS IN 1965 WHEN HE HIT .770 (20 FOR 26) IN THE NATIONAL TOURNAMENT.

REINHARDT PLAYED ON 5 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS, TWO RUNNER-UP TEAMS, AND ONE THIRD-PLACE TEAM. HE WAS NAMED TO 5 ASA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT ALL-STAR TEAMS AND WAS THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER IN 1963. IN 1954, HE PLAYED WITH SHIELDS REALTY OF NEWPORT, KY, AND HIT 36 HOMERS AND DROVE IN 135 RUNS. HIS LIFETIME BATTING AVERAGE WAS .593. REINHARDT RETIRED FROM SOFTBALL IN 1968.
