PAUL’S SERVICE TO RECREATION AND ASA SOFTBALL FROM 1956 TO AUGUST 1990 WAS OUTSTANDING. AS A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, HE WORKED PART-TIME FOR 4 YEARS AND WAS EMPLOYED FULL TIME IN 1960. HIS FIRST JOB WAS MAINTENANCE. DEDICATION AND HARD WORK HELPED HIM ADVANCE TO BECOME ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE GLASGOW PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT. THE DIRECTOR WAS OCHELL TUCK. PAUL SUPERVISED 12 FULL TIME EMPLOYEES AND 28 SEASONAL EMPLOYEES. THE GLASGOW RECREATION DEPARTMENT BECAME ASSOCIATED WITH THE KENTUCKY SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION IN 1976.

PAUL’S PRIMARY INTEREST HAS BEEN IN THE WOMEN AND YOUTH TOURNAMENTS. HE WAS TOURNAMENT MANAGER FOR 29 WOMEN’S SLOW PITCH KENTUCKY STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND 1 MID-WEST NATIONAL REGIONAL. HE ALSO MANAGED MANY STATE REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS FOR MEN’S SLOW PITCH CLASS A AND INDUSTRIAL TOURNAMENTS. HE WAS AN ASA DEPUTY DISTRICT COMMISSIONER FOR 10 YEARS. PAUL WAS DISTRICT UMPIRE-IN-CHIEF FOR 8 YEARS, AND ON MANY OCCASIONS, HE WOULD UMPIRE GAMES. HE WAS ALWAYS FAIR AND HONEST AND HAD THE RESPECT OF ALL THE BALL PLAYERS AND HIS STAFF.

HE SERVED 6 YEARS ON THE HALL OF FAME AND HONOR COMMITTEE. THIS CITATION BEARS WITNESS THAT HIS NAME SHALL FOREVER BE IN THE KENTUCKY SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION HALL OF HONOR.
